Interview with Alba Vilaseca, DOOET Shoes. Sustainable footwear

How did you meet Rhenoflex? We met Rhenoflex through the FuturModa website, the International Shoe Components Fair held in Spain. At that time we were in the investigation of sustainable materials, and thanks to the total predisposition and argumentation of Alberto Andreu on the different articles that have, we started together to start our first collection of sustainable footwear. What do you value most about your relationship with Rhenoflex?Authenticity and honesty would be one of the many values that we appreciate from Rhenoflex, while highlighting the help and advice they give us, giving us all the information of their products, as well as your personal attention to the development of our models. Could you introduce us to a product you’ve developed with Rhenoflex materials?DOOET Shoes Geppetto sneakers are made with sustainable, biodegradable and recyclable materials, so they had to carry the Rx V 5432 material, which surprised us very positively for its properties. From DOOET Shoes, we believe in a concept of footwear that in addition to giving importance in external materials is also attributed to internal, helping to reduce environmental impact and providing greater comfort to our customers.

How is it presented this year for your brand? The beginnings of a brand are not always a challenge to assume, however, we firmly believe in our values, taking care of manufacturing processes and the commitment to generate a positive impact on the recovery of artisanal processes. We understand that a key factor is to create synergies with our suppliers in order to offer a constant improvement of our products to customers. On the other hand, we have an online sales platform where we ship both nationally and internationally, with the desire and hope that our sneakers can be enjoyed and appreciated for as many people and places in the world as possible. What do you think the material trends are?We believe that the trends are still the research and development of new materials, although in recent years there has been a boom for more sustainable materials, of organic and/or vegetable origin, recycled and recyclable, which are clearly more environmentally friendly, as most of them can be given a second use on the market. In this sense, our way of understanding material trends not only covers the raw material itself, but also that the production processes used are environmentally friendly, controlling the entire supply chain and pollutants that are derived. Thus, we have the perception that the footwear sector has begun to work seriously to encourage such a paradigm shift.
